The Peoria Historical Society, in collaboration with the Institute for Principled Leadership at Bradley University, is proud

be presented annually to a person or business that demonstrates outstanding community leadership.
In 1690, the King of France granted Henri de Tonti exclusive trading rights to the entire Illinois Country. The following
year, under Tonti ’s direction, his trading company established the first European outpost along the western shores of
Lake Pimiteoui, thereby creating the foundation for the development of the city of Peoria.
Tickets and corporate sponsorships for this inaugural award ceremony are available for advance reservation by
contacting the Peoria Historical Society at (309) 674-1921 or by e-mail at
deTonti@peoriahistoricalsociety.org
The inaugural de Tonti Award will be presented to Caterpillar Inc. in
recognition of the company ’s continuous commitment to providing
