EASTER SEALS HAS SEVERAL
FUNDRAISERS PLANNED
Easter Seals has several fundraising
activities planned during January
and February, mostly with the help of
some local restaurants.
On Thursday, Jan. 12, Ericka
Redmond will host a fundraiser at 3
p.m. at Chuck E. Cheese in Westlake
Shopping Center in Peoria.
The Publik House at 4614 N. Prospect
Road in Peoria Heights will donate
15 percent of its proceeds from food
and drinks sold between 4 and 11
p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26.
A spaghetti dinner fundraiser is
scheduled from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday,
Jan. 28 at Country Side Banquet Hall
in Washington. The Denim Blue Band
will play and raffles, 50/50 chances
and a silent auction also are planned.
Tickets are available at the door for
$10 a person, with children ages 4 to
7 admitted for $7 and age 3 and under
for free.
Easter Seals’ annual “Black and Blue
Ball” is schedule for 6 p.m. Feb. 24
at the Peoria Civic Center Ballroom.
There will be hors d’oeuvres,
complimentary beer, wine and soft
drinks, with a cash bar and the
Bremer Jewelry Martini Bar.
A silent auction is planned and a live
auction is set for 7:30 p.m. Music will
be by Wedding Banned, which is
billed as “Chicago’s most outrageous
musical experience.
Tickets are $100 each and
sponsorships are being sold from
$1,000 to $10,000 for the event.
WINTER WARMING
CHILDREN’S BENEFIT
The Sun Foundation will host the
annual Winter Warming Benefit for
the Children’s Program Fund at 5 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Zambeze
River Lodge at the Peoria Zoo.
The Sun Foundation works to
strengthen and advance the arts
and environmental sciences in rural
and urban communities by providing
quality and innovative programs,
services, publications, research,
regranting financial support and
cooperative efforts for the general
public, underserved groups,
schools, Illinois artists and local arts
organizations.
Features of this event include the
tasting of wines, micro brews,
imported beers, delicious, warming
foods and desserts. There also will
be live music. Food sponsors include
Starbucks, Super Liquors, Kroger’s,
Alwan & Sons., Dixon Fisheries and
Schnucks.
Tickets are $50 through Jan. 21 and
$60 after Jan. 21.
Sponsorships also are being sold
with program advertising and tickets
given in exchange. Sponsorships
range from $500 to $5,000.
BOYS & GIRLS CLUB
VALENTINE RAFFLE SET
The Boys & Girls Club of Greater
Peoria will be selling raffle tickets
for its annual Have A Heart Valentine
Raffle to support the organization’s
tutoring and mentoring programs.
Cash prizes will be awarded to 50
people, with $2,500 the top prize.
Tickets are $25 each and may be
purchased from our board members
or by calling the Boys & Girls Club at
(309) 685-6007.
Drawing will be Tuesday, Feb. 14,
2012 at the Boys & Girls Club.
