exposed to classical music,” she
said.
Noting orchestra music
programs are being trimmed or
eliminated from many schools
because of budget cuts, including
in Peoria District 150, Hoffman
said “it is sad that the opportuni-
ties for kids to learn this music
are dwindling. We need to and
are trying to find ways to get
music to more children.”
The PSO’s future looks bright,
she added. “Peoria is lucky to
have George Stelluto. He brings
a lot of passion to the position of
music director and his connec-
tions have helped bring high-
quality guest artists, some of the
biggest names in classical music.
That is impressive for a city this
size,” she said.
The PSO’s studio inside the
WTVP building at State and
Water streets is “uniquely posi-
tioned, at the edge of the river-
front and Warehouse District and
we’re ready to take advantage
of it. We are going to start doing
programs there in our studio
and we hope it will help expand
our reach. We want to give more
people the best experience they
can have,”
Season tickets are on sale, with
prices ranging from $174 to $497,
depending on which zone is
chosen. New subscribers can get
season tickets for 50 percent off in
a certain zone or people can cre-
ate their own four pack of tickets.
Single tickets will range in cost
from $25 to $71, with the tickets
being $10 more for the Sept. 28
(
Olga Kern) and April 12 (Bela
Fleck) concerts.
