PEORIA PLAYERS TO PRESENT
95
TH SEASON
Peoria Players Theatre, the
oldest continuously operating
community theater in Illinois
and fourth oldest in the country,
will open its 95th season with
one of the most popular musicals
of all time.
“
Les Miserables,” which only
became available to community
theatres within the last couple
of years, will be presented Sept.
6
through 15 at the theatre on
North University Street.
The entire season is filled
with well-known blockbust-
ers as Peoria Players wants to
give back to its audiences, said
theatre business manager Nicki
Haschke. “We’re very excited
about this season. All are well-
known shows and we’ll do ‘I’ll
Be Home for Christmas’ holiday
show again this year. We wanted
to make sure we had shows ev-
eryone could enjoy,” she said.
Season tickets, which are on
sale, cost a little less this year
at $85 instead of $90. That’s
because the theatre is doing two
non-musicals this year instead
of one. Non-musicals are less
costly to produce. “We decided
this because a lot of our perform-
ers reminded us that they don’t
sing and dance. If we do mostly
musicals it cuts down on their
opportunities to be on stage,”
she said.
