The annual Peorian of the Year award celebrates leaders and visionaries from our community who are building off the past and moving Peoria forward. Nominations will be accepted online during the months of November and December. Finalists will be selected by The Peorian editorial board and notified in January. The finalists will be revealed in the March/April edition of The Peorian. Members of the community will be able to vote online for the Peorian of the Year in March. The winner will be announced at the annual Peorian of the Year Luncheon held in April, which will feature a nationally prominent speaker. A gift of $10,000 will be presented to a local, registered non-profit organization chosen by the winner.
The Peorian of the Year must be a resident of the Tri-County area and over the age of 21. The selection criteria for finalists will be based upon the individual’s professional and personal accomplishments and community engagement. The number of nominations received for an individual will not factor into the editorial board’s selection of finalists, who will be chosen based on the accomplishments described in his or her nomination(s). The winner will not be notified in advance of the Peorian of the Year Luncheon. All finalists must agree to attend the luncheon. An online dossier of each finalist, including information on the non-profits that will benefit if they are named Peorian of the Year, will be available to assist voters in making their decisions. Votes may be cast once a day; duplicate votes cast on the same day will not be counted.
