If you can handle a four-mile obstacle course of unpredictable terrain and varied apparatuses, there is still time to register for Hard Charge Peoria.

The nationally televised Hard Charge series is coming to Three Sister Park in Chillicothe on Saturday, Sept. 28, with more than 20 obstacles for men and women. The obstacles have names like Angled Ambush, Jalopy Justice, Scale the Skins and Will Hill and one local fan of the show described it as "a steeplechase on steroids."

According to Hard Charge it is "An intense, challenging, and fun event for all fitness levels. (T)he obstacle mission consists of two primary heats: Charge for Fun and Charge for Glory. Charge for Fun participants are out to achieve a personal goal. They may take on the course at their own pace and choose to eliminate tougher obstacles, all in the name of completing the challenge. Charge for Glory heats are timed and marshaled, with top individuals and teams qualifying for the final, televised Charge held later in the day.

"It doesn't matter your current fitness level, Hard Charge will test you and push you to the max. When the dust has settled and the mud has dried, you'll already be looking forward to taking on your next Hard Charge mission."

Registration is open to everyone at HardCharge.com/Peoria, while volunteers may sign up at HardCharge.com/get-involved/volunteer.

Hard Charge has been televised since June through Comcast SportsNet. "The show focuses on the world's fastest growing adventure sport and the everyday competitors who qualify for the televised heat. Each episode highlights their journeys and personal stories as they work toward competing in the race that will test their courage, strength, and stamina," a news release said.

Hard Charge Peoria kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with the men's Charge for Glory heats, followed by the women's Charge for Glory heats at 9:20 a.m. Charge for Fun heats begin at 9:40 a.m. The televised Charge begins at 3 p.m.

Hard Charge Peoria also features a post-race party with music, food, and beverages, located at the Charger village inside the park. Spectators are encouraged to watch the Charge and attend the post-race party. Both events are open to non-participants, free of charge.

Registration runs through Wednesday, Sept. 25. The cost is $79 for the Charge for Fun event and $99 for the Charge for Glory event.
