Gordon-Booth introduces Peoria legislation

State Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth is taking the concerns of community leaders and putting them into legislation that focuses of improving the Peoria region.
The Democrat from Peoria has introduced the legislation in the General Assembly, her office announced.
"I believe my most important job is to be a strong advocate for the Peoria area," said Gordon-Booth in a statement. "That is why I am focused on local priorities that keep our community safe and encourage businesses to grow and create jobs right here in our region. While a lot of statewide issues are pressing, I am dedicated to putting the people of our area first, and my legislative activity reflects that commitment."
Gordon-Booth has introduced a number of initiatives proposed by the city of Peoria and Peoria County. They include making it easier for cities to purchase unused property and improving traffic flow at lights with flashing yellow arrows. Gordon-Booth also intends to work with the city to pass a bill that will further assist development in the Warehouse District.
"There are great economic development plans underway throughout our region," said Gordon-Booth. "Our community, region, and state will become stronger when more people have jobs and go to work every day. As this legislative session progresses, representing our area effectively and creating jobs will be something I look to be helpful with every day."
Gordon-Booth will also focus on completing the transfer of Wildlife Prairie Park from the state to Friends of Wildlife Prairie Park and making it easier for schools districts to consolidate, if they choose to do so.
