State Sen. Darin LaHood (R-Dunlap) will host a free Citizens Utility Board (CUB) and senior fraud prevention clinic at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria on Sept. 4, from 10 a.m. to noon.
All interested senior citizens in the Peoria area are invited to attend to receive information about fraud prevention strategies and ways to save money on telephone, electric and gas bills. CUB staffers will need seniors to bring copies of their phone and utility bills to analyze for money-saving tips.
Free refreshments and door prizes will be provided.
The Attorney General's Office will be on hand to speak about common consumer scams targeting senior citizens such as internet lotteries and mail fraud. The Treasurer's I-Cash computer will be on site to allow seniors to search for unclaimed property.
For more information about the event please contact Senator LaHood's office at (309) 693-4921.
