The 2013 Illinois Action Summit sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association is Wednesday, March 13 in Springfield.
The Alzheimer's Association is inviting area residents to attend the summit and help increase awareness of the disease.
"The purpose of the Illinois Action Summit is to ensure all Illinois legislators understand the importance of prioritizing Alzheimer's disease among the state's policies," the association said in a news release.
The day will begin with a briefing on the Alzheimer's Association's policy priorities for 2013. Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon will host Alzheimer's advocates and legislators in her Springfield office. Later, the group will visit many other members of the Senate and the House, giving participants a chance to share personal stories and ask for lawmakers' support for Alzheimer's initiatives.
The cost is $15 per attendee for materials and lunch. To learn more or register, call Jen Belkov at (847) 779-6957 or visit www.alzheimers-illinois.org/summit . The registration deadline is Friday, March 8.
